My First 10k

Today, I ran my first 10 kilometres in my life ever. I did it in about an hour. There is a nice trail that is a 6k loop with nice kilometres markers. So I did a lap around it then doubled back to the 2k and then back to the parking lot. And, best of all, it felt good. I almost turned my ankle at 7k, but came through fine. It would have been terribly depressing.

It puts me on par for a 1:45-150 half marathon. My boyfriend's first half was a 1:47, I think it would be super awesome to be able to say that I beat him in our firsts. And comparatively, I could qualify for Boston if I could keep that pace for a marathon. Which is pretty cool. At work there seems to always be talk of Boston Boston Boston. It was never my goal, but now it seems attractive. For my age group, 19-34, I would have to run under 3:40 at a qualifying marathon.

My original goal, I set last summer. To run a half-marathon before I was 20. I'll be running one in October, a month after my 20th birthday - I think it counts.
